Etymology: Greek, helos, "nail or stud" and Greek, aspis, "shield": referring to the denticulate ornament of the shield.

Etymology: Named after End Mountain, the main locality yielding this species (Latin, finis, end).

Holotype: GSC 118222 a, b (part and counterpart)

Locality: North face of “End Mountain” (locality 2) and head of Bowfort Creek (locality 3), east of Banff, Alberta Province, Canada.

Horizon: Yahatinda Formation,”Channel” facies.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Middle Devonian.

Material: Nearly complete head shield.
