Etymology: Greek, lechrios, "slanting" and Greek, aspis, "shield"; referring to the configuration of the posterior part of the medial dorsal canals.

Species: patula ELLIOTT & PETRIELLO, 2011
Etymology: Latin, patulus, "broad"; refering to the relatively wide shield of this species.

Holotype: FMNH-PF14493

Locality: Locality 3, Bear River Range, ear Logan, Cachae County, Utah.

Horizon: Base of the Grassy Flat Member, Water Canyon Formation.

Biostratraphy:

Age: Early Devonian.

Material: Incomplete dorsal shield.

Note: Has pucture wounds from an Eurypteryid.
