Etymology: Pinyin for the Miao people, a minority ethnic group in China, which is one of the two main autonomous minority ethnic groups in Xiushan County, Chongqing, China, and Greek, aspis, "shield".

Etymology: Latin, dichotomus, referring to the dichotomous ends of teh lateral transverse canals.

Holotype: CIGMR V0125a, b

Locality: Yongdong Town, Xiushan County, Chongqing Municipality, China.

Horizon: Huixingshao Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Middle Telychian Age, Llondovery Epoch, Late Early Silurian.

Material: An incomplete headshield with the trunk articualted.
