Etymology: In reference to the Graoully, Graouli or Graully, a mythical dragon from the folklore of Lorraine, teh region of France where the specimens were found.

Etymology: Greek, branchio, "gill" and Greek, odon, "tooth": refering to the large teeth found on teh ceratobranchials.

Locality:Sarraltroff, 57400 Moselli, Grand Est, France.
Horizon: Calcaire a Ceratites Formation, Upper Muschelkalk.
Biostratigraphy: Praenodosus biozone (a ceratit ammonite).
Age: Middle Landinian Stage, Late Mid Triassic Epoch, Middle Triassic.
Material: Complete fish.
