Etymology: Latin, Albaruthenia, for Belarus and Greek, aspis, "shield".

Species: bessonovae NEWMAN & PLAX, 2025
Etymology: In honor of the geologist Vilena Yakovlevna Bessonova who recovered the reamins of the new species from the core of the Petrikov 335 borehole.

Holotype: GIT 768-6

Locality: Petrikov 335 borehole at a depth of 490.9-574 m, Lelchitsy District, Gomel Region, Belarus.

Age: Either the upper part of the Borovian Regional Stage or the lower part of the Kalinovichial Regional Stage, Upper Famennian Stage, Late Devonian Epoch, Late Devonian.

Material: An articulated specimen with parts of the ventral and lateral trunk shield and the anteirior part of the head in dorsal aspect.
