Genus: Kimbryanodus TRINAJSTIC & LONG, 2009
Etymology: In honor of Dr. Kim Dennis-Bryan for her pioneering work on placoderms.

Species: williamburyensis TRINAJSTIC & LONG, 2009
Etymology: After Williambury station where the type section of the Gneudna Formation is located and from which the specimen was found and in recognition for the assistance that the Percy family, who run Williambury Station, have given the University of Western Australia and the Western Australian Museum over many years.

Holotype: WAM 99.8.1

Locality: Willambury Station, 23?58’10”S, 115?12’30”E, Carnavron Basin, Northwest Western Australia State, Australia.

Horizon: KT Bed 7, 90 m above the base of the section within the carboniate facies, Gneudna Formation.

Biostratigraphy: transitans to puncata conodont zones.

Age: Frasnian Stage, Lower Late Devonian Epoch, Late Devonian.

Material: A partial specimen comprising associated nuchal, central and postorbital plates of the head shield, ethmoid ossification, the lower tooth plates, and incomplete median dorsal plate.
