Etymology: After the settlement of Murrindal, north of Buchan.

Species: wallacei LONG, 1984
Etymology: In honor of Mr. M. Wallace, Depart. Geology, University of Tasmania, who discovered serval fishes from the Buchan area in 1982.

Holotype: MUGD6066

Locality: From the vicinity of Rocky Camp Quarry, north of Buchan, Eastern Victoria State, Australia.

Horizon: Top of the McLarty Member of the Murrindal Limestone.

Biostratigraphy :

Age: Emsian Stage, Upper Early Devonian Epoch, Early Devonian.

Material: An almost complete median plate.

Horizon: Receptaculites limestone, perbonous condont zone.
