Genus: Aquilolamna VULLO, FREY, IFRIM, GONZÄLEZ GONZÄLEZ, STINNESBECK & STINNESBECK, 2021
Etymology: Latin, aquila, "eagle" + Lamna. In reference to the wing-shaped pectoral fins and aquilopelagic ecomorphyte of this probable lamniform.

Etymology: In reference to the Museo La Milarca (San Pedro Garza Garcia, Nuevo Leon State, Mexico), where the holotype is housed and exhibited. Proposed vernacular name: eagle shark.

Holotype: INAH 2544 P.F. 17

Locality: Vallecillo Quarry area, 26.665°N, 100.044°W, Nuevo Leon State, Mexic.

Horizon: Vallecillo Member, Aqua Nueva Formation.

Biostratigraphy: Middle-Upper Pseudaspidoceras flexuosum Zone.

Age: Lower Turonian Stage, Late Gallic Subepoch, Early Gulf Epoch, Middle Cretaceous.

Material: Nearly complete specimen.

Note: Found associated with the acanthoceratid ammonite Pseudaspidoceras pseudonodosoides, the pycnodontid Paranursalia gutturosa, the pachyrhizodontid Goulmimichthys roberti and the dercetid Rhynchodoceretis regio.
