Etymology: In honor of Dr. Brian Witzke for his decades-long study of teh geology of Iowa in generla, and Mississippian strata in particular.

Holotype: SC2019.44.1

Locality: Cessford Construction Company Mediapous Quarry, Mediapons, Des Mones County, Iowa.

Horizon: Burlington-Keokuk Bonebed, contact horizon etween Burlington adn Keokuk Limestones.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Osagean sub epoch, Tournaisan to Visean Stages, Early to Middle Mississippian Subperiod, Lower Carboniferous Period.

Material: Tooth.
