Etymology: in reference to Durnonovaria, teh ancient name of the town of Dorchester from which the name Dorset derives, and Greek, odus, "tooth."

Etymology: In honor of John Maisey for his significant work on better understanding hybodontiform taxonomy and systematics and his contribution to the field of palaeoichthyology in general.

Locality: Freshwater Steps, Encome, Dorset County, England, Southern United Kingdom.

Horizon: Kimmeridge Clay Formation.

Biostratigraphy: Pectinatites pectinatus ammonite zone.

Age: Early Tithonian Stage, Malm Epoch, Late Jurassic.

Mateiral: A slab preserving disarticulated elements of the splanchnocranium with associated teeth, numberous dermal denticles, a single fragmentary fing spine, and the pelvic girdle, plus abundant cartliage fragments of uncertian identity.
