Etymology: From the Greek, ceratops, "horned face," alluding to the ceratopsian dinosaurs and the Latin, pes, "foot."

Etymology: From the city of Golden, Colorado, within whose city limits the majority of the specimens of the ichnotaxa are found.

Locality: Triceratops Trail (also known as Clay Pits,Fossil Trace, Parfet Clay Pit) (Locality 10 of CARPENTER & YOUNG, 2002) exposures east of 6th Avenue and south of 19th Street, northwest of Denver, Jefferson County, Colorado.
