Etymology: Latin, ostendo, "to show or to display" and Latin, ichnos, "trace.

Ichnospecies: bilobatus LOCKLEY, McCREA, BUCKLEY, LIM, MATTHEWS, BREITHAUPT, HOUCK, GIERLINSKI, SURMIK, KIM, XING, KONG, CART, MARTIN, & HADDEN, 2016
Etymology: Bilobatus, means two lobes.

Holotype:DMNH EPV.69705.

Locality: Roubideau Creek, Delta County, Colorado.

Horizon: Naturita Formation (Lower part of the Dakota Sandstone).

Note: Carpenter (2014) redefined the Dakota Formation as just belonging to the predominately sandstone of basal Cretaceous starta along the eastern Missouri River. During the deposition of the ‘Dakota Formation’ the United States was bisected by the Western Interior Seaway, therefore the terrestrial ‘Dakota Formation’ can not be attributed to both sides of the Seaway. He suggests the western part of the Dakota Formation should be renamed the Naturita Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Late Early Cretaceous.

Material: Plaster cast of one ?right track.Latex mold and fiberglass replica of large diggint trace, within which a dignostic theropod track occurs.
