Ichnogenus: Otozoum E. HITCHCOCK, 1847
Etymology: Otus, one of the fabled praeadamic giants. In Greek mythology, Otus was one of two sons of Iphimedia, wife of Aloeus by Poseidon. Otus/Otos means insatiate, and his brother Ephialtes means nightmare, both were the Aloadae/Aloads.The meaning of Otozoum is, an animal Otus, or giant.
