Etymology: Greek, arthro-, "jointed" and Greek, pterygium, "wing-like": referring
to the socketed articulation between the distal humerus and proximal radius
and ulna.

Etymology: In reference to the Volga Region, European Russia.

Material: Basisphenoid, opisthotics, quadrates, parietals, right supratemporal, and articular, 3 posterior caudal and tailfin vertebrae, neural arches and rib fragments, coracoids, fragments of the interclavicle, scapula, and clavicles, and distal portion of the femur.

Material: Basioccipital, basiphenoid, partial right and left articulars, atlas-axis complex, 3 cervical/anterior dorsal centra, 2 anterior audal centra, 2 posterior caudal centra, neural spine, partial right adn left scapulae, right coracoid, right and left humeri, right andleft radii, ulnae, and preaxial elements, right and left intermedia, isolated manual phalanges, right and left femora.

Etymology: Greek, thalassa, "the sea" and Greek, notos, "south," because the species swam in southern seas.
Holotype: MOZ-PV 6145
Locality: Yesera del Tromen-Pampa Tril area, north-western Neuquen Province, Patagonia, Argentina.
Horizon: Vaca Muerta Formation, Mendoza Group.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Late Tithonian Stage, Malm Epoch, Late Jurassic.
Material: A partial skeleton consisting of a skull lacking the anterior portion of the rostrum and a partly articulated right forelimb.
