Etymology: For Grendel, a monster in the Beowulf epic, who came from he Fens in the Region of the Oxford Clas, England, where the fossil was found.

Etymology: Latin, mordax, "bitting."

Locality: Great Ouse Folld Relief Channel, about 100m south of the bridge at Stowbridge, 12 km south of King's Lynn, Norfolk County, England, Southern United Kingdom.

Horizon: Kimmeridge Clay.

Biostratigraphy: Pectinatites wheatleyensis zone.

Age: Early Volgian, Tithonian Stage, Malm Epoch, Late Jurassic.

Material: Skull, isolated centra, ribs and some girdle fragments.
