Etymology: In honor of Christopher McGowan, who described the type species.

Locality: Jewitt Spur, Immediately west of McLay Spur, on the northern shore of the Peace Reach branch of Williston Lake (map reverence UTM 10VET 175175), British Columbia Province, Canada.

Horizon: Pardonet Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Middle Norian Stage, Late Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic.

Material: A partial skull and partial skeleton.
