Etymology: In reference to the Sierra de Parras locality, Saltillo Municipality, Coahuila State, Mexico and Greek, sauros, "lizard."

Etymology: From yachuitxtli, for the Nahuatl deity of the night; approximately translated as 'prickly' or 'long nose.'

Holotype: CPC 307

Locality: 'Rancho el somberro, Sierra de Parras, 25°08'19"N, 101°28'58"W, Saltillo Municipality, Coahuila State, northeastern Mexico.

Horizon: La Caja Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Late Tithonian Stage, Dogger Epoch, Late Triassic.

Material: Skull and fragmentary skeleton.
