Genus: Jammerbergia DAMIANI & HANCOX, 2003
Etymology: After Jammerberg, Afrikaans for ‘Sorry Mountina’, the type locality.

Species: formops DAMIANI & HANCOX, 2003
Etymology: A combination of Latin, forma, "image or likeness" and the suffix –ops, ‘face’; in reference to the skull roof which is preserved mainly as a natural mold.

Holotype: NM QR 1436

Locality: Jammerberg, Wepener District, Free (Orange Free) State Province, South Africa.

Horizon: Burgersdorp Formation, Tarkastad Subgroup.

Biostratigraphy: Cynognathus zone, subzone B ?

Age: Spathian Stage, Anisian Stage, lowermost Mid Triassic Epoch, Early to Middle Triassic.

Material: A partial skull without mandibles.
