Etymology: In honor of Mr. T. S. Kutty of the Geological Studies Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, who discovered most of the material, including the skull, and Greek, kephale, "head."

Species: triangularis SENGUPTA, 1995
Etymology: The specific name highlights the triangular shape of the skull.

Holotype: ISI A 50

Locality: Near Rechni Village, Pranhita-Godavari valley, Deccan, Andhra Pradesh State, India.

Horizon: Upper part of the Maleri Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Early Norian Stage, Middle Late Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic.

Material: A complete skull with left lower jaw.
