Etymology: Greek, perittos, "odd" and Greek, odus, "tooth", referring to the unsual dentition of the mandible.

Etymology: Latin, apsconditus, "covert, disguised, hidden, secret or concealed"; referrint to the fact that key parts were only discovered by micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) scanning.

Locality: Willie's Hole, Whiteadder Water near Chirnside, East Kirkton, near Bathgate, West Lothian Province, Scotland.

Horizon: Ballagana Formation.

Age: Early Mid-Tournaisian Epoch, earliest Mississippian Sub-Epoch (North America), earliest Carboniferous.

Material: Cheek region of skull, lower jaw, and postcranial elements in part and counter part.

Horizon: 373.95 m above the base of the Ballagana Formation.
