Genus: Diabloroter MANN & MADDIN, 2019
Etymology: Latin, diabolus, "devil," referring to the hellishly red latex peels from which the taxon was intially identified and English, rota/rotavator, "a digger," referring to the fossorial habits of recubirostrans.

Species: bolti MANN & MADDIN, 2019
Etymology: In hnor of Dr. John Bolt, who contributed much to the study of early microsaurs and, in particular, his curation of Mazon Creek tetrapod fossils prompted this and several future studies.

Holotype: ACFGM V-1634 (latex peel FMNH PR 847)

Locality: Sunspot Mine of Ayrshire Collieries Corp (later Amax Coal Co.), 2 miles norh of Astoria, Fulton County, Illinois.

Horizon: Francis Creek Shale, Carbondale Formation, Mazon Creek lagerstätte.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Moscovian Epoch, Middle Pennsylvanian (Late Carboniferous).
