Etymology: In reference to the University of Nebraska 'corn-huskers' and Greek, erpton, 'creeping.'

Etymology: In honor of James Englehorn, who performed meticulous micropreparation on the holotype and other Paleozoic vertebrates for the DMNH and UNSM collections; 'Englehorn's creeping husker.'

Holotype: USNM 32144

Locality: Mayer Farm locality (DMNH locality 2076, USNM locality Rh 103), Richardson County, Nebraska.

Horizon: Lower half of the Eskridge Formation, Council Grove Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Cisuralian, Asselian Stage, Rotliegendes Epoch, Early Early Permian.

Material: Nearly complete skull with both lower jaws and articulated atlas-axis complex.
