Genus: Steenerpeton MANN, GEE, PARDO, MARJANOVIC, ANDAMS, CALTHORPE, MADDIN & ANDERSON, 2020
Etymology: In honor of Margaret C. Steen (later Brough), who published, among other works, the first comprehensive revision of the presumedly anamniote tetrapods from Joggins (Steen, 2934) and Greek, herpeotn, "cree', used to disignate a wide variety of animals in Antiquity (even mammals and insects) and to form the genus names of many Palaeozoic and Mesozoic 'herptiles.'

Etymology: Latin, silva, "of the forest."

Holotype: NMC 10041

Locality: Joggins, Chignecto Bay, several miles of sea coast on the Bay of Fundy, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia Province, Canada.

Horizon: Joggins Formation, Coal-group 15.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Westephalian B, upper Westphalian, Middle Silesian series, Kashirskian Stage, Moscovian Epoch, Late Pennsylvanian (Late Carboniferous).

Material: Skull, lower jaws, clavicles, humeri, section of vertebral column, pelvis and numerous scales.
