Etymology: Greek, maia, 'good mother', and Greek, spondylus 'vertebra'; In
reference to the associated embryonic material found near the vertebral column.

Etymology: In honor of Al Lindoe, who collected the specimens.
Holotype: UALV 45635
Locality: On the Hay River, 60°01'N, 116°57'W, Northwest Territories, Canada.
Horizon: Loon River Formation.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Middle Albian Stage, Middle Gallic Subepoch, Uppermost Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.
Material: An incomplete disarticulated individual preserved in three dimensions.
Paratypes:
UALVP 45639: 2 embryos agglutinated to eight articulated vertebrae.
