Etymology: Greek, aoknos, "restless" and Greek, dromeus, "runner" (Greek, masculine), meaning “restless runner”.

Species: corrugatus GAO & FOX, 1996
Etymology: Latin, corrugatus, “wrinkled”, in reference to the wrinkled enamel on the tooth crown of this lizard.

Holotype: UALVP 29905

Locality: UALVP MR-6, Verdigris Coulee, approximately 30 km east of the Village of Milk River, Warner County, Southern Alberta Province, Canada.

Horizon: Deadhorse Coulee Member, Milk River Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Aquilian age, Late Santonian Stage, Senonian subepoch, Upper Gulf epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: A nearly complete left dentary bearing 11 teeth and species for 5 others.

Topotype: UALVP 29906: Left dentary fragment with 9 anterior tooth positions.
