Etymology: Latin, Carentonia, "Charente", a river close to Madame Island, western France and Greek, sauros, "lizard."

Species: mineauorum emend RAGE & NERAUDEAU, 2004
= Carentonosaurus mineaui RAGE & NERAUDEAU, 2004
Etymology: In honor of Mr. Mineau and his family for thier kind assistance during field work.

Locality: Madame Island, Department of Charente Maritime, Western France.

Horizon: Dm unit.

Material: A mid- or posterior dorsal vertebra.
