Species: microlanius WHITESIDE, CHAMBI-TROWELL & BENTON, 2022
Etymology: Greek, micro, "small" and Latin, lanius, “butcher”, The recruved blade-like teeth demonstrate that the animal was a small efficient predator that could capture and immoblize prey quickly.

Locality: Carboniferous LImestone, Cromhall Quarry, Tortworth, Gloucestershire County, England, Southern United Kingdom.
Horizon: Equivalent of Cotham Member, Lilstock Formation.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Probably late Rhaetian, Late Triassic Stage, Latest Triassic.
Material:A partial articulated anterior skeleton and associated partial skull and lower jaw; right mandible with associated quadrate, jugal, postorbital, otoccipital, basicranial bones, articulated cervical and anterior dorsal vertebrae, as well as pectoral girdle and forelimb elemetns. NEarby are further articulated dorsal vertebrae, followed by a basioccipital from a larger individual.
