Genus: Dallasaurus BELL & POLCYN, 2005
Etymology: After Dallas County, Texas, where the specime was found, and Greek, sauros, "lizard."

Species: turneri BELL & POLCYN, 2005
Etymology: In honor of Van Turner, who discovered and donated the first specimen and facilitated the donation of the second one.

Holotype: TMM 43209-1

Locality: SMU locality number 259 (= TMM locality 43209), Cedar Hill, Dallas County, Texas.

Horizon: Arcadia Park Shale, approximately 15 cm above the Kamp Ranch Limestone.

Biostratigraphy: Probably the upper part of the Collignoniceras woollgari zone.

Age: Middle Turonian Stage, Upper Gallic Subepoch, Lower Gulf Epoch, Upper Middle Cretaceous.

Material: A fragmentary disarticulated skull and significant portions of a post cranial skeleton.
