Etymology: Native Brazilian TupiGuarani, guera, "ancient" + Agama (gender feminine) in reference to agamid lizards.

Etymology: 'sulamericana', meaning 'from South America' (Portuguese).

Holotype: CP.V 2187

Locality: 'Cemiterio dos pterossauros' site (Pterosaur Graveyard site), 53°03'53.4"W, 23°45'34.5" S, Cruzeiro do Oeste Municipality, Parana State, Brazil.

Horizon: Goio-Ere Formation, Caiua Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Turonian- Campanian Stage, Senonian Subepoch, Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Partial lower jaw.
