Genus: Indrasaurus O’CONNOR, ZHENG, DONG, WANG, WANG, ZHANG & ZHOU, 2019
Etymology: The generic name referes to a Vedic legend in which the deity Indra was swallowed by the dragon Vritra during thier battle, and Greek, sauros, "lizard."

Etymology: In honor of Yuan Wang, fo rhis extensive work on the Chinese fossil herpetofauna and dedication to the promotion of Chinese fossils through museum exhibits.

Holotype: STM5-32

Locality: Jianchang, Jianchang County, Liaoning Province, northeastern China.

Horizon: Jiufotang Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Early Cretaceous.

Material: A partial articulated skeleton.

Note: Indrasaurus wangi was preserved in the stomach region of a Microraptor zhaoianus specimen.
