Etymology: Greek, syphax, "sweet new wine"; in recognition of the productive
evengins with J. Eaton discussing the Cretaceous of southern Utah.
Holotype: UMNH VP 17384
Locality: UMNH Locality 424, within Bryce Canyon National Park, Garfield County, Utah.
Horizon: John Henry Member, Straight Cliffs Formation.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Santonian Stage, Senonian Sub-epoch, Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.
Material: A partial right dentary lacking teh anteriormost and posteriormost portions of the elemtns. It preserves 9, closeliy spaced tooth positions, 2 complete/nearly complete teeth.
