Age: Late Maastrichtian Stage, uppermost Senonian subepoch, Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Fragmentary skull, frontal, parietal, prefrontal, postorbitofrontal, quadrate, fragments of pterygoid, fragments of dentary and splenial.

Species: ponpetelegans KONISHI, CALDWELL, NISHIMURA, SAKURAI, & TANOUE, 2015
Etymology: From the words 'ponpet', which means a creek in Ainu (language of the indigenosu people of Hokkaido), and Latin, elegans, 'elegant'; in reference to both the exceptional preservation of the holotype adn the clean Pankerusano-sawa Creek from which the fossil was derived. In addition, ponpet is the etymological source of the village name Hobetsu.

Holotype: HMG-1528

Locality: East side of the Pankerusano-sawa Creek, approximately 5 km east of Hobetsu and 2 km west of Tomiuchi, Hokkaido Island, Japan.

Horizon: Lower most section of unite IVb (corresonds to the lower middle part of the Hakobuchi Formation, Yezo Group).

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Lowermost Maastrichtian Stage, uppermost Senonian subepoch, Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Fragmentary skull and fragmentary skeleton.
