Etymology: From "Romeo," the character of the famous play "Romeo and Juliet' set in Verona by Willam Shakespeare, and from Greek, sauros, "lizard."

Etymology: In reference to Fumane, Verona County, Northern Italy, the small village where the species holotype was found.

Holotype: NHMV-64108

Locality: From a limestone quarry located in the vicinity of the village of Fumane, Verona County, Northern Italy.

Horizon: Scaglia Rossa Formation Veneta Formation.

Biostratigraphy: 'Lastame" lithozone.

Age: Early Turonian, Uppermost Gallic Subepoch-Early Santonian Stage, Lower Senonian Subepoch, Lower Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Fragmentary skull (jaws, braincase, squamosals, pterygoids, ectopterygoids, and quadrates) and about half of the vertebral column.

Referred material:

MPPS-4224: Fragmentary skull (2 complete mandibular rami, left maxilla, right jugal, 2 quadrates, 1 cervical vertebra, and a series of fragments of uncertain identity.

MPPS-45301: Incomplete skull and some preserved postcranial material.

MPPS-45299 : Poorly preserved series of vertebrae belonging to the dorsal and porximal caudal regions.

Etymology: In honor of Lorenzo Sorbini, the former curator of the paleontological collections of the Natural History Museum in Verona.

Age: Early Turonian, Uppermost Gallic Subepoch-Early Santonian Stage, Lower Senonian Subepoch, Lower Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.
