Etymology: Mongolian, saichan-, "beautiful" and Mongolian, gurvel, "lizard."

Species: davidsonae emend CONRAD & NORELL, 2007
= Saichangurvel davidsoni CONRAD & NORELL, 2007
Etymology: In honor of Amy Davidson, who collected and prepared the specimen; Davidson's beautiful lizard.
Note: The authors incorrectly used the wrong ending. They named it after a female preparator, Amy Davidson, and the ending should actually be -ae not -i.

Holotype: IGM 3/858

Locality: Ukhaa Tolgod, Nemegt Basin, Ukhaa Tolgod, Ömnögov (South Gobi), Mongolia.

Horizon: Djadochta Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Middle Campanian Stage, Senonian Subepoch, Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Nearly complete skull and skeleton.
