Etymology: In honor of Emeritus Professor Manuel Segura, former director of the Department of Geology of the University of Alcala (Alcal de Henares, Spain) and renouned specialist on the Iberian Cretaceous and Greek, sauros, "lizard."

Etymology:

Holotype: DCT-CC-1

Locality: Beiraterra quarry, Casais dos Carecos, 40 °15'07.0N, 8°34'15.6"W, Baixo Mondego Ranges, Coimbra District, Western Portugal.

Horizon: Lower part of the Tentugal Formation, Unit B.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Upper most Middle Cenomanian Stage, Middle Gallic Subepoch, Lowermost Gulf Epoch, Late Early Cretaceous.

Material: Dorsal vertebra.

Paratypes:
