Etymology: Lakuma, spirit of the sea in the mythology of the Yamana Indians from Tierra del Fuego (Gusinde, 1986), Southern Patagonia, and Greek, sauros, ‘lizard’ : Lakuma lizard.

Etymology: In reference to the Yezo Group, and Greek, sauros, 'lizard'.
