Etymology: Latin, tri, "three," and Latin, pinnaculum, "peak or pinnacle"; in reference to the prominent tricuspid shape of the tooth crowns.

Species: eatoni NYDAM, & VOCI, 2007
Etymology: In honor of Jeffery G. Eaton, who discovered the type locality and has contributed significantly to the study, interpretation, and understanding of the biostratigraphy and paleontology of the Kaiparowits Plateau.

Holotype: OMNH 23146

Locality: OMNH locality V6, approximately 22 km southeast of the town of Henrieville, Kane County, Utah.

Horizon: Lower Kaiparowits Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Judithian age, Late Campanian Stage, Senonian subepoch, Upper Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Broken left dentary with 6 teeth.
