Etymology: In honor of the late Yaoming Hu for his contributions to our knowledge of early mammals.

Holotype: UA 9030

Locality: Quarry MAD 99-15, Mahajanga Basin, Mahajana Province, Northwestern Madagascar.

Horizon: Anembalemba Memver, Maevarano Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Maastrichtian Stage, Uppermost Senonian Subepoch, Uppermost Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Nearly complete skull and skeleton.
