Etymology: Latin, altus, "high" and with analogy to other species of triconodonts, Greek, konos, “cone” and Greek, odon, “tooth”: High cone tooth.

Species: lindoei FOX, 1969
Etymology: After M. L. Allan Lindoe, Preparator in Vertebrate Paleontology at the University of Alberta and the discover of the type locality.

Holotype: UA 5397

Locality: UA MR-4, Verdigris Coulee, about 18 miles east of the village of Milk River, Warner County, Alberta Province, Canada.

Horizon: Upper Milk River Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Aquilian age, Lower Campanian Stage, Aquilian in age, Senonian subepoch, Upper Gulf epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Incomplete left mandible with penultimate and ultimate molar with teeth.
