Etymology: After the Junggar Basin (formerly Dsungar), Xinjiang, China and Greek, odon, "tooth"; masculine, tooth from the Junggar Basin.

Species: zuoi PFRETZSCHNER, MARTIN, MAISCH, MATZKE & SUN, 2005
Etymology: In honor of Prof. Zuo Zue-Yi, head of the information Division of the Geological Bureau of Xinjiang in Urumqi, at the time director of the Xinjinang Geological Survey No. 1, for his long-tearm support of our fieldwork in the Junggar Basin.

Holotype: SGP 2001/21

Locality: Liuhuanggou, 40 km southwest of Urumqi in the Junggar Basin, Xinjiang Autonomous Region, northwest China.

Horizon: Upper part of Qigu Formation.

Biostatigraphy:

Age: Oxfordian Stage, Lower Malm Epoch, Early Late Jurassic.
