Genus: Eleutherodon KERMACK, KERMACK, LEES & MILLS, 1998
Etymology: Greek, eleutheros, “a freeman" and Greek, odous, “tooth”.
The name is a punning complement to Mer. E. Freeman, who was the first worker
to collect and publish mammal teeth from the forest marble.

Holotype: BMNH M46460 (formerly Biology Department, University College, London, BDUC J. 460).
Locality: Clay bands of the “Kirtlington mammal bed’, Kirtlington Old Quarry (Old Cement Works Quarry), grid reference SP 494 199, Oxfordshire County, England, Southern United Kingdom.
Horizon: Forest Marble.
