Etymology: Greek, erythros, “red” and Greek, therion, “beast, mammal”: Red (beds) mammal.

Etymology:

Holotype: SAM K359

Locality: At an altitude of 6295 feet above sea level about 300 feet-below the base of the Cave Sandstone in the immediate vicinity, near the village of Tsekong in the mountains about 4 miles south-east of Mafeteng, Basutoland, Lesotho, Southern Africa.

Horizon: Upper Red beds.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Probably of Upper Keuper or Rhaetian Stage, Upper Late Triassice Epoch, Upper Triassic.

Material: Skull and lower jaw with teeth and a fragmentary skeleton of a juvenile.
