Etymology: Fale, from Fales plus Greek, petro, "rock," in recognition of the area of discovery at False Rocks, Wyoming.

Species: barwini CLEMENS & LILLEGRAVEN, 1986
Etymology: In honor of John R. Barwin for his discovery of the fossil-bearing level now known as “Barwin Quarry”.

Holotype: AMNH 86316

Locality: “Barwin Quarry”, area of Rattlesnake Hills anticline, Southeastern Wind River Basin, Natrona County, Central Wyoming.

Horizon: Lower part of “unnamed middle member”, Mesavrde Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Judithian Age, Campanian Stage, Senonian subepoch, Upper Gulf epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: An isolated, right upper molariform tooth, crown only.

Referred material:

Locality: UCMP locality V-77083, Montana.

Horizon: Judith River Formation.

Horizon: Judith River Formation.
