Genus: Heishanobaatar KUSHUHASHI, HU, WANG, SETOGUCHI & MATSUOKA, 2010
Etymology: 'Heishan,' after Heishan county, Liaoning Province, northeastern China, where the ype specimen of the type and only species was collected and Mongolian, baatar, "hero," which has been used as a suffix for generic names for many Asian Cretaceous multituberculates.

Species: triangulus KUSHUHASHI, HU, WANG, SETOGUCHI & MATSUOKA, 2010
Etymology: Latin, triangulus, "triangular"; referring to the triangular crown of p3 in lateral view, which is one of the diagnostic characters of this species.

Locality: Badaohao, Heishan County, Liaoning Province, northeastern China.

Horizon: Shahai Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Aptian-Albian Stage, Middle Gallic Subepoch, Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.

Material: Left dentary with incisor, p2-p4, and m1.
