Etymology: In honor of Dr. Siegfried Henkel (1931-1984), paleontologist at Frier Universitat Berlin, for his part in early mammal digs at Guimarota, Portugal, Greek, odon, “tooth”: Henkel’s tooth.

Etymology: In reference to Guimorata Coal Pits, Guimarota, Portugal.
= Kuehneodon guimarotensis HAHN, 1969

Holotype: V. J. 5-115a-b

Locality: Guimarota lignite mine (Mina de Lignito Guimarota), 1.5 km SSE of Leiria, Leiria District, Portugal.
