Etymology: In reference to the Liaoning Province, China, where the specimen was found, and Greek, therion, "beast."

Etymology: Latin, gracile, "slender."

Locality: Fangshen, Lingyuan County, approximately 41'N, 119'05"E, Liaoning Province, China.

Horizon: Jiulongshan Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Middle Jurassic.

Material: Right mandible with the last molar (Lm5?)
