Locality: Sihetun Village, near the town of Shangyuan (Shangyuanzhen), Beipiao City (Beipiaoshi), Liaoning Province, China.

Horizon: Horizon 1, Lower part of the Yixian Formation, Jehol Group.

Biostratigraphy: Psittacosaurus Fauna, Confuciusornis Avifauna.

Age: Valanginian Stage, Upper Neocomian Subepoch, Early Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.

Material: Skull, skeleton, soft tissue and hair.

Species: asiaticus JI, LUO, ZHANG, YUAN & XU, 2009
Etymology: Latin for the Asiatic provenance of zhangheotheriids.

Holotype: HGM 41H-III-0321

Locality: Lujiatung locality, 120°54'41"E, 41°36'26"N, Beipiao, Liaoning Province, China.

Horizon: Yixian Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Aptian Stage, Middle Gallic Subepoch, Upper Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.

Material: An almost complete skull and most of the postcranial skeleton.
