Etymology: Latin,Origo, "origin, source and ancestor", adn Greek, -lestes, "plundeer"; a commonly used suffix for small and presumaly stealthy predaceous mammals.

Etymology: IN honor of Professor Chuankui Li for his contributions to the study of early mammals.

Holotype: IVPP V14383-1

Locality: Lujiatun and Jinlingsi localities, Beipiao County, Liaoning Province, China.

Horizon: Lujiatun beds, Yixian Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Aptian Stage, Early Gallic Subepoch, Late Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.

Material: Skull and skeleton.

Paratypes:

IVPP V14383, JZT-DB0064, JZT-DB-0271: 2 nearly complete sksletons.

IVPP V13604: partial skull with associated lower jaws.
