Etymology: Latin, tenuis, "thin"; in reference to the very slender dentary of this species.

Holotype: NHMUK PV M47744

Locality: Durdlestone Bay, Swanage, Dorset County, England, Southern United Kingdom.

Horizon: Purbeckian.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Berriasian Stage, Lower Neocomian Subepoch, Lower Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.

Material: Left ramus, external aspect, with alveoli fro i1-i5, the caine and the m2 and crowns of the i3, p1-p5 and m1.

Referred material:

BMNH 47799: A right denary frgment preserving the angular process, an alveolus for the p5 and broken crowns of the m1-m3.
