Etymology: Qi, from pinyin of the Chinese character for unusual, meaing deity, unexpected and surprising and , Shou, from pinyin of the Chinese word for creature, animal or beast.

Species: jizantang MAO & MENG, 2019
Etymology: Jizantang, pinyin for the Chinese name for the museum where the holotype is housed.

Holotype: JZT-D061

Locality: Daxishan site, Linglongta, Jianchang County, Liaoning Province, China.

Horizon: Tiaojishan Formaiton.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Oxfordian Stage, Lower Dogger Epoch, Late Jurassic.

Material: A nearly complete skeleton of an adult specimen.
